In questo contesto nasce il Pio X International, un percorso di scuola superiore in 4 anni riconosciuto dal MIUR: con questo curriculum di studi lo studente consegue il prestigioso IB Diploma che consente l’accesso alle migliori Università nel mondo e in Italia e contemporaneamente, grazie al riconoscimento del Ministero dell’Istruzione Italiana, anche l’equipollenza con il Diploma di Maturità linguistica, scienti- fica o delle Scienze umane.
Il percorso quadriennale è completamente in lingua inglese e rivolto a ragazzi dai 14 ai 18 anni; incorag- gia l’eccellenza accademica e lo sviluppo di quella scintilla che ogni genitore vorrebbe veder nascere e coltivare nei propri figli. Iscrizione
Il Pio X International consta di due bienni, il Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) per studenti dai 14 ai 16 anni, e l’International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) per ragazzi dai 16 ai 18 anni.
Ad ogni biennio si accede tramite un processo di selezione il cui scopo è valutare le possibilità di cresci- ta, benessere e successo dei candidati in un ambiente scolastico impegnativo e così ricco di stimoli. I coordinatori e la Segreteria sono a disposizione per i dettagli specifici.
IGCSE
(International General Certificate of Secondary Education, primo biennio, 14-16 anni).
L’IGCSE è un percorso internazionale di scuola superiore sviluppato sin dal 1988 dalla Cambridge Uni- versity, le cui materie afferiscono a diversi ambiti di conoscenza, assicurando una preparazione ampia e completa, ma al contempo integrata e legata alla realtà, perfetta per la preparazione al biennio succes- sivo nell’IBDP del Pio International.
I programmi dell’IGCSE stimolano l’applicazione di strategie ed abitudini, funzionali all’apprendimento anche da adulti, che va quindi oltre i confini delle singole materie. Mettere al centro il ragazzo con le sue attitudini e passioni oppure mettere al centro la disciplina accademica, non sono approcci alternativi, ma complementari: l’IGCSE infatti propone programmi che si fondano su conoscenze approfondite e competenze chiave, capaci di dare agli studenti strumenti di pensiero riguardo al mondo, sostenendo lo sviluppo e l’applicazione del loro bagaglio culturale in situazioni reali ed interdisciplinari.
IBDP
(Struttura dell’International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, 16-18 anni).
L’IBDP è un corso biennale in cui gli studenti seguono un programma rigoroso ed impegnativo che compendia riflessione e rielaborazione su sei materie accademiche (tre a livello superiore, 5-6 ore alla settimana, e tre a livello standard, 5/4 ore alla settimana) in ambiti disciplinari differenti. Inoltre i ragazzi devono cimentarsi con attività CORE fondamentali per IBDP come Creativity Activity and Service (CAS), studiare un corso di propedeutica all’epistemologia (Theory of Knowledge – TOK, 2 ore alla settimana) e completare una tesi di ricerca su una materia a scelta di 4000 parole (Extended Essay – EE).
Come si vede l’IBDP, per sua natura, offre un approccio olistico all’educazione, permettendo un risultato che è maggiore della somma delle sue parti. La forza dell’IBDP si basa infatti sul fatto che la creatività si manifesta e si sviluppa in persone che, avendo approfondito due o più campi del sapere, utilizzano la struttura concettuale dell’uno per pensare in modo nuovo rispetto all’altro. Così facendo i nostri giovani si preparano rispetto alle sfide di un mondo in continua evoluzione, interconnesso e globale, come quel- lo in cui stanno crescendo. Il pensiero laterale e il respiro internazionale rendono l’IBDP uno dei migliori percorsi per prepararsi all’università e al mondo del lavoro.
Orario settimanale
L’orario settimanale prevede lezioni dal lunedì al venerdì, ogni mattina dalle 7.55 alle 13.30, con l’ag- giunta di alcuni pomeriggi dalle 14.30 alle 16.10. La distribuzione delle ore durante la settimana e tra mattina e pomeriggi è modellata individualmente sulla base della combinazione di materie scelta da ogni studente. Oltre ad una combinazione personalizzata del piano di studi, la Scuola offre il servizio di studio assistito in biblioteca per la redazione degli Internal Assessment e degli Extended Essay, seguiti dagli insegnanti, nonché dall’Extended Essay Coordinator e Librarian. Questo rende possibile sfruttare al meglio il tempo a scuola ed alleggerisce il carico di lavoro degli studenti che hanno lezioni pomeridiane. La qualità e la quantità dell’insegnamento rimangono bilanciate, all’interno di questo percorso tanto stimolante quanto impegnativo.

This is the environment that gave life to Pio X International, a 4-year high school course of study recognized by MIUR (Ministero dell’Istruzione–Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca) (Ministry of Education– Ministry of University and Research). With this curriculum, students attain the prestigious IB Diploma which gives access to the best universities in the world and in Italy. In addition, the Italian Ministry of Education recognizes its equivalence to the linguistic, scientific or human sciences Diploma di Maturità (high school diploma).
The 4-year course of study is carried out completely in English and it is offered for students between the ages of 14 and 18. It encourages academic excellence and the development of that spark that all parents would like to see start and grow in their children. Thanks to the wide range of subjects to choose from, those who graduate at Pio X International are ready to face any field at the best universities in the world.

Enrolment
Pio X International consists of two 2-year programmes, the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for students between the ages of 14 and 16 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for students between the ages of 16 and 18.
Access is gained to each 2-year programme through a selection process whose aim is to evaluate the potential for the growth, well-being and success of the candidates in a demanding and highly motivating school environment. IGCSE
(International General Certificate of Secondary Education, first 2-year programme, 14-16 years of age). IGCSE has been an international high school course of studies since 1988, developed by Cambridge University, whose subjects, pertaining to different fields of knowledge, ensure a vast and complete education while at the same time being anchored to reality. It is perfect for the preparation of the following 2-year programme in IBDP Pio X International.
IGCSE programmes stimulate the application of strategies and habits which are functional also to learning as adults, going beyond the individual subjects. Focusing our attention on the individual and his/her aptitudes and interests or focusing our attention on the academic subject are not alternative but complementary approaches. IGCSE has programmes based on in-depth knowledge and key skills, giving students food for thought about the world, supporting the development and application of their cultural background in real and inter-disciplinary situations.
IBDP
(Organisation of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, 16-18 years of age).
IBDP is a rigorous, demanding 2-year course of study requiring strong commitment in the study of six academic subjects (three at higher level with 5-6 hours per week and three at standard level with 4-5 hours per week) in different disciplinary fields.
In addition, students must participate in CORE activities which are fundamental for IBDP, such as Creativity Activity and Service (CAS), take a course on introductory epistemology (Theory of Knowledge – TOK, 2 hours per week) and complete a 4,000-word research essay on a subject of their choice (Extended Essay – EE).
As you can see, by its nature IBDP offers a holistic approach to education, with a result that is greater than the sum of its parts. The strength of IBDP is based on the fact that creativity is developed in people who have carried out an in-depth study of two or more fields of knowledge, using the conceptual structure of one to think about the other in a new way. This is how our young people get ready for challenges in a constantly changing, interconnected and global world, like the one they are growing up in. Lateral thinking and international scope make IBDP one of the best courses of study to prepare for university and the world of work.
Timetable
The weekly timetable includes lessons from Monday to Friday, every morning from 7.55 to 13.30, with some afternoon lessons from 14.30 to 16.10. The distribution of lessons over the week and between morning and afternoon is based on individual combinations of subjects for every student. Besides a personalised curriculum, the School offers structured study time in the library, when students can work on their Internal Assessments and Extended Essay with the assistance of their teachers or the Exten- ded Essay Coordinator and Librarian. This further service gives our students the possibility to make the maximum out of their school day when they have afternoon lessons. A balance between quality and quantity of teaching is maintained in the frame of such a stimulating and challenging programme.
